Italian sleaze beast Joe D’Amato is known mostly for his gruesome gore flicks like the Grim Reaper series and Ghosthouse, and there’s a reason for that. Although porn has always been bread and butter for the cat, his ability to project sexual heat on film is pretty much nil. Guys ripping out hearts or eating intestines he can do; a decent fuck scene, not so much. Anyway, this 'un was originally released in 1995, and not under this title. He actually made 5(!) movies in ’95, and I’m not sure what this one was originally, but hell, it’s “Dreams of a Country Girl” now, so let’s go with it.

The story involves Roxanna Hall, who’s an innocent debutante coming of age in a very horny household fulla freely freaking maids and stable boys and whoever else. She doesn’t stay innocent for long, tho. You see where this is going, right? They used to show stuff like this at 3 AM on Cinemax all the time. Probably still do. This is just ike that, only they actually show you the sex instead of just hinting at it. What else? Well, it was shot on film, and it’s in Italian, with sub-titles. Who wants to read when they’re watching porn, tho?

There actually is plenty o’ ass fucking, pussy licking, and cum guzzling scenes in this one, and it’s all yet-untapped Italian chicks, so that’s kinda cool; however, the direction is so plodding, it’s hard to stay awake for it all. D’Amato never really aspired to create 'art' anyway, and he sure didn’t achieve it here. “Dream of a Country Girl” is a def. Must have for D’Amato completists (believe me, there are such people , the miserable wretches), but regular folks like you and me, would be better served jacking off to an old episode of “Police Woman”, or something sexy like that.
